The Salt Scooper Antique Geisha Doll of the Kabuki Theater in original box
This doll is an antique Geisha doll of the Kabuki theater. She is called Shikokumi - The Salt Scooper. The doll’s story is about the salt scooper written in the an ancient Japanese Kanji language which is included with the doll. The Kanji language was spoken in Japan through April 1087 through December 1094. The story is she is the daughter of a legendary Samurai lord of an inland region who carried saltwater from the sea during wartime to make salt. Her father was killed in battle and she was left with his Helmet and green cloak. Unfortunately this doll is missing the helmet. She carries two pails on a yoke painted with images of waves. She stands 15” tall including the stand. Her face and hands are made of gofun with glass inserted eyes. Her head turns from side to side.
