How Prelovu works

Where the data comes from

All listings come live from eBay's official Browse API for the US marketplace. That means we see the same active listings you would see on eBay — titles, prices, shipping, condition and seller rating. We do not scrape eBay and we do not see sold prices.

How fresh is it?

When you search, we fetch results from eBay or reuse a copy that is at most a few hours old, and every result page shows an “Updated X min ago” badge. Nothing we show is ever more than 6 hours old: older copies are deleted automatically. Prices can still change on eBay between our check and your click, so always confirm the final price on the listing.

Why only used?

Prelovu is built for one job: buying pre-owned well. Every request we send to eBay is locked to its used and refurbished condition codes (Certified Refurbished, the Excellent / Very Good / Good refurbished grades, Seller Refurbished, Like New, Pre-owned Excellent / Good / Fair, Used, Very Good, Good and Acceptable). We then check the condition of every item a second time on our side. New, open-box, “new with defects” and “for parts or not working” items are always excluded. The junk filter

A search for “iPhone 14 Pro” on eBay returns cases, screen protectors, cracked phones and iCloud-locked devices alongside the phones you want. Our filter removes those using clear, rule-based checks on the listing title — no AI is involved:

• Everywhere: for parts, not working, broken, sold as-is, “read description”, box only, replicas.
• Electronics: iCloud / activation locked, blacklisted or bad ESN, cracked screens, cases and accessories, chargers only, replacement parts.
• Fashion: damaged, stained, holes, “inspired” and dupes.
• Trading cards: proxies, custom and fan-art cards, digital code cards.
• Car parts: core-charge and core-only listings.
• Price check: anything priced below a quarter of similar listings is held back — that's almost always an accessory, a part or a scam.

Rules are smart about what you typed: if you search for “iPhone 14 Pro case”, cases are not hidden. Vehicles are never hidden — salvage, rebuilt, flood and no-title vehicles are shown with a clear warning instead.

We always tell you how many listings we hid, and you can tap “Show hidden” to see each one with the reason. If we got one wrong, use the 🚩 button and we'll fix the rule.

The Deal Score (0–100)

The Deal Score answers “how good is this price compared with the same thing in the same condition, right now?”

1. We take the total price — item plus shipping.
2. We group it with similar listings in the same condition group (refurbished, like-new / excellent, used good, or fair / acceptable).
3. The base score is where the price ranks in that group: cheaper than 90% of similar listings scores about 90.
4. We adjust for things that matter: + a highly rated seller, + returns accepted, + free shipping; − a new seller, − ships from outside the US, and a big penalty for a price that is suspiciously low.

If there are fewer than 8 comparable listings we show “Not enough data” rather than guess.

Asking prices, not sold prices

Our price charts show what sellers are asking for active listings. eBay's public data does not include final sale prices, so we never call these “sold” or “market value” — they are a snapshot of what is available to buy right now.

Vehicles

Every car is different, so Vehicle mode compares a car only with the same make and model within one model year, and adjusts for mileage. It also flags salvage, rebuilt, flood and no-title vehicles, missing mileage, brand-new seller accounts and prices that look too good to be true.

What we never do

• We never show new items or link to them.
• We never send eBay listing data to AI systems.
• We never let commissions change scores or ranking.
