Presenting an exceptionally well carved vintage wooden Maori Tiki box. This outstanding example displays a pleasing amount of age and has been masterfully hand carved with exceptional attention to detail. A finely detailed Tiki adorns the top surface of the hinged lid. The Maori Tiki has been carved with superb depth and decorated with traditional designs detailed with inlaid Paua shell eyes. Traditional fern designs adorn each side of the box. The lid is fitted with a concealed hinge which speaks to the quality of the piece. This box is beautifully stamped to the base with an impressed "Hand Carved in Rotorua New Zealand" mark. An outstanding addition to any Maori Tiki, Pacific Islands, Oceanic or Tribal art collection!.

This exquisite piece features a finely detailed Tiki face to the front face of the blade. The Tiki is rendered in a traditional style with superb diamond sawtooth carving and is depicted with a large protruding tongue and inlaid paua shell eyes. A diamond motif contained within an elliptical shaped border adorns the stub of the paddle, perfectly unifying the design.
