ESTIMATED AGE OR ERA = These are very old mirror back buttons - my best guess for the buttons would be late Victorian 1800's to early 1900's in age. And if there is a void - I am not sure if it signifies a missing button here or there or if it is original to the piece. either way an easy fix and / or chance to customize should you chose to do so.
