Pair Of Majolica Style Large Parrots Perched On Limbs 9" Pretty, Subtle Colors
These parrot figurines are in excellent used condition. All colors are intact, and there are no chips or cracks. The tip of one leaf has an imperfection, which is glazed over. I believe this to be a manufacturing issue. However, I have included a close-up photo of the area. Each one is approximately 8.5" in height, and the pair weighs 1 pound 13 ounces unboxed. This is a detailed hand carved amber? Or other material study of a bird among the berries. The natural characteristics of the amber are used to great affect adding depth and texture to the bird. Most likely Chinese and early 1900’s but there are no markings to guide determination. It has a rich natural red to the amber tones and a cracking of the back of the bird. Hot needle does not go in.
