An antique sword and sheath from the Shona people of Zimbabwe, Africa, priobably late 19th century. It measures 23 3/4" long, including sheath. The carbon steel blade measures 19 1/2" long by 7/8" wide , with a 3 9/16" long hilt of turned mahogany. The blade is in very good condition, with some spots of slight roughness to the edges. The hardwood sheath is made from two sections held together with wire wrapping. It looks like a metal tip is missing from it, and there are middling signs of age and use.
