Probably Paiute origin, possibly Shoshone or Washoe. Constructed of willow or related native plant fibers. Rigid original shape. Retains remnants of woven strap handle. Lack of waterproofing material, such as resin or clay suggests that it was probably used as a utilitarian vessel for carrying seeds, grains, other small foodstuffs.
