The beadwork on the face of the bag is very fine with the green beads that make up the stems being very tiny, about 20 per lineal inch. 19th century Native American Headdress War Bonnet
Very rare item found in the Texas area. Bonnet is made from brain tanned buckskin with some original paint still visible and chevrons painted on the forehead area. The large feathers have remnants of red paint as well. It’s adorned with red trade cloth and soft hair hanging from the sides and was likely used during the mid to late 1800s. The mate was lost probably in the 1960’s. I don’t recall its origins other than it came from a relative that was part Native American.
