You can see down inside the pot where all the pieces fit together like a puzzle, and the outside they painted the cracks to make it more visibly appealing. I purchased this piece a few years ago from a private collector in Denver along with numerous other pieces. It really caught my eye and still does. I like how similar it is in form to the midwest Human effigies of the Mississippian culture. Measures about 6” tall. Just a great rare example.

Mississippian Head Pot? No Expert But All Evidence Points To. Some Say Older?
I’m no expert. I believe it to be Mississippian. Estate purchase from Indian artifact collector several years ago. I reached out to a couple of institutions but no response. It’s a beauty, one chip on top of rim (see pic). Two sided with faces on both sides. Appears to be wearing ear jewelry and nose has holes where nostrils would be. Tool marks visible. I’m thinning out my collection. It never really fit in any category I was simply fascinated. Your turn to enjoy. I am not attempting to deceive anyone. The site owner would drive out and go around his field collecting his $5.00 fee to dig so we dug with the owners permission. This Redware bowl is 5 1/4 x 2 1/2 tall.. Solid miniature redware bowl with probe hole and no other imperfections. It was dug with a short neck water bottle that will also be listed.
