This pie bird was a joint effort by both Chic and Le Pere Potteries between the years 1939 and 1954. Both Chic and Le Pere were located in Zanesville, Ohio and Le Pere was known for their gold decoration.

Stuart Bass "English Chicken Farm" Collection - Black Game Bird

Although this is a black game bird, he is actually very colorful. His body is more of a taupe color with large dark gray "rain-drop" style spots on his chest and much smaller spots on his back. He has a red comb and wattle and his tail feathers are a dark blue-gray. He is signed S. Bass and is part of the English Chicken Farm collection. He measures approximately 4 inches tall.

Adrian Pottery Whimsical "Hen" Pie Bird

This is a tall thin Adrian Pottery pie bird that I am calling a "hen" only because of the tail feathers. It is approximately 6.5 inches tall. I have numerous Adrian Pottery pie birds in my collection, but this is the first one I purchased with "Adrian Pottery" embossed in the ceramic before glazing. The pie bird is predominately white (cream) with red, blue, and yellow/orange accents.

This pie bird is in lovely vintage condition. Has no breaks or repairs. Does have crazing all throughout and a couple of small chips in the glaze, but looks great otherwise. The original paper tag is very worn with age and is literally hanging onto the neck of the bird for dear life. I will do my best to store, package and ship the bird with the utmost care in order to preserve the tag as it is shown in the photos.
