Some little rust, but very solid. 38” carbon still blade. Peened tang. 2 lbs 9 oz. Sheath is just painted wood, not much to write home about but this is a very early piece for Windlass/MRL.

Exceptional Queen Victorian British Officer sword pattern 1822 w/ mint scabbard
The British Officer brass 3-bar hilt of 1822 pattern continued into the long reign of Queen Victoria. This is an exceptionally well-cared-for example of that weapon. The blade is near perfect with the mildest of blackish discoloration nearer the tip and extremely clear and deep etching of the royal cipher and other embellishments. The hilt is solid and clean, with the only flaw being that someone at some point applied a drop of solder to the most proximal ring of wiring near the blade, possibly due to a broken wire. The solder is evident but not that noticeable. The scabbard is very clean as well. It is a Henry Wilkinson sword. Henry Wilkinson was appointed maker of swords and guns for the Queen for decades. He died in 1861.
