This exquisite Danish name cloth (navneklud) features a traditional Adam and eve standing beside the tree of knowledge, complete with serpent. It also includes typical 19th century motifs such as numbers, letters, a ship, castle and mermaid. These "Name cloths" were educational tools used by young girls to demonstrate their sewing proficiency and literacy. They often served as a permanent record of their skills and family lineage. This one was meticulously completed. A wonderful piece!! Full size, including unstitched canvas edges: 30"x 31.5" Needlepoint only: 22.5" x 25"

Large Antique Memorial Mourning Sampler dated 1843 – angels, trees, verses

This touching memorial sampler was stitched for Mary Hoyle whodied September 18, 1843 at age 18. The name at the bottom of the sampler isshown as Mary Ann Hoyle’s Work. Finished 1843. This is a large sampler, approximately 16.5” square. It isstitched in silk and wool on a loosely woven canvas. The sampler has very few condition issues as is common withsamplers of this age such as small stains. Photos of the front and back havebeen provided. See all photos as they are part of the description.

Beautiful and rare! “Good Luck” with symbolic horseshoe, shamrocks (3 leaf), clovers (4 leaf) needlework stitched on perforated paper. The horseshoe appears as down hanging (such as over a door) with stitched bow; traditionally and symbolically this image “pours good luck” onto everyone who passes through the door.

Antique Rare 1800s Art Needlework Embroidery Book Designs For Silks And Crewels

This is a fantastic antique rare book with original patterns still intact. It’s entitled “Art Needlework A Complete Manual of Embroidery In Silks And Crewels With Full Instructions and a Large Number of Original Designs”. It is clearly from the late 1800’s and is in great condition for its age with minimal wear. You can see where one of the patterns, possibly two have been used and detached from the book, but there are still several original designs intact and never used. Please let me know if you need additional photos. This is a beautiful book.
