Here is a rare, Large (22” x 16”) “Order of the Top of the World” Arctic Circle crossing certificate issued to crew member Arthur Blum aboard USCGC Northwind, hand-signed by Commanding Officer Captain J.A. Dirks, with art (including a depiction of the Northwind) by Fred Langille. On heavyweight laid paper with “Hamilton Victorian” watermark. 1952 was the Northwind’s most significant season — she broke the world record for Arctic Circle miles in a single season (10,029 miles) and was first to reach Thule, Greenland a full month ahead of normal ice clearance (17 days after this certificate was issued).
