1937 Packard Model 1507-1039 Coupe-Roadster
This 1937 Packard Twelve Model 1507-1039 Coupe-Roadster is an absolutely gorgeous V-12 Packard with impressive CCCA touring history. 1937 was an important year for Packard, the American luxury automaker who rose to prominence building some of the finest automobiles on US roads for decades. Like all American automobile manufacturers in the early 30s, Packard suffered significantly from the poor economic conditions and effects of the Great Depression. However, unlike virtually all of its luxury car manufacturer contemporaries, such as Marmon, Stutz, Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, Peerless, and Pierce-Arrow, all of whom went bankrupt, Packard was able to survive and by 1937 Packard was thriving. Packard's ability to persevere through the Great Depression was due in large part to Packard's entry into the intermediate-priced car market.

It is about exact proportions, superb craftsmanship, and how a senior Packard from this era combines both long-wheelbase luxury with the unique rarity in open top form to set it apart from the sedans that carried much of the brands production volume.

1933 Packard 5-Passenger Coupe
This 1933 Packard Eight 5-Passenger Coupe is a beautifully restored pre-war cruiser and a Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) True Classic! From its modest beginnings in 1899, the Packard Motor Company garnered a reputation of high-quality, prestige, and luxury. In the years that followed, Packard trademarked it famous slogan "Ask the Man Who Owns One" and cemented itself atop America's luxury automakers including Cadillac, Marmon, Stutz, Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, Peerless, and Pierce-Arrow. However, when the economy crashed in the fall of 1929 and plunged the world's economy into the throws of the Great Depression, the demand for luxury cars crashed too. In fact, the 1929 Stock Market Crash put Packard's contemporaries Peerless and Marmon out of business, and put Stutz, Pierce-Arrow, and Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg on the brink of failure.

1938 Packard
This 1938 Packard Rollston Eight 1668 All-Weather Panel Brougham is a unique and rare custom-bodied coach with all of the finest elements of luxury. "Ask the man who owns one" was the tag-line for Packard back in 1938, however, '38 was a down year for Packard. Buyers of Packard's luxury automobiles were still recovering from the Great Depression and spending thousands of dollars on a new car was not the top priority for most. Nonetheless, Packard still remained atop of the hierarchy of independent luxury automakers with many, including Pierce-Arrow, Peerless, Cord, Duesenberg, and others, either out of business or very close to it. 1938 also marked the first year that Packard partnered up with the Rollston Company, a premier New York-based coachbuilder at the time, to create several new custom-bodied Packards.

1934 Packard Dietrich Convertible Sedan
This 1934 Packard Twelve Dietrich Convertible Sedan is an impeccably restored, well documented, custom bodied Packard and is perhaps the nicest example we've ever seen. In the years leading up to the Stock Market Crash of 1929, there were numerous luxury automakers prior to the Great Depression including names such as Cadillac, Marmon, Stutz, and Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, along with the "Three P's" comprised of Peerless, Pierce-Arrow, and Packard. However, when the Stock Market crashed in 1929, billions of dollars of wealth was completely wiped out and demand for high-end luxury automobiles cratered. In the tough years that followed, companies such as Peerless and Marmon went bankrupt, and the remaining luxury builders were either running on fumes or on their last legs.

1939 Packard Convertible Victoria
This 1939 Packard Series 1701 One-Twenty Convertible Victoria by Darrin is an extremely rare Darrin that benefitted from an Award-Winning restoration by an esteemed Packard specialist. In hindsight, 1939 would serve as the end of an era for the luxury American automaker, Packard, at it was the final year of Packard's production of the Twelve and, some would argue, its true Senior cars. While 1938 was a disappointment for automobile sales, the industry was optimistic heading into 1939. For Packard, who was celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 1939, its Seventeenth Series was a much welcomed rebound with sales up approximately 50% from the previous year.

Always built to the highest standards, the Packard was unquestionably one of the finest American cars of the pre-war era. Packard introduced its first 'Eight' in 1924 and by the decade's end was building eight-cylinder cars only.

The touring sedan was designed for four or more passengers and the "touring" denoted the car's ability and design geared to long distance driving. In this early part of the century, populations were still concentrated in urban centers, so people engaged in touring as a way to temporarily escape and take a ride in the "country," rural areas on the outskirts of cities.
