The name and address of a former owner is written on the shaft. Vintage and used but still in good condition. The shaft has only minor cosmetic scuffs. The bottom two sections are straight but the top section does have deviations from straight. The handle, fittings, eyes and whipping are all in good order. The screw on butt cap is not present.

The eyes and whipping are in good condition except for one displaced eye on one of the top sections.(see photo) The rod can obviously still be used using the other top section. The carrier is unusual and useful for housing the rod. The bag is in poor condition but included because it is marginally better than nothing.

The shaft is in good condition for its age, relatively free of scuffs and scratches though the top section does have a slight deviation from straight and true. The handle is in good condition but would benefit from a reapplication of the varnish over scuffs on the reel seat. The top and bottom eyes are lined with what appears to be red agate and it and the other eyes and whipping are in good order. The bag is unbranded, looks to be the original with three pockets and is in good condition except for one small hole

The shaft has only minor deviations from straight. Some scuffs on the shaft from use but nothing to affect operation. The handle, fittings, eyes and whipping are all in good order. The top section is shorter than the other two but there is no evidence of a historic repair so it appears that this was part of the original design. The bag is unbranded and is in good condition.

J S Sharpe The Aberdeen Split Cane Trout Fly Rod 3 Piece 9’8” #6/7 Vintage The serial number is 3897 50 indicating a manufacture year of 1950. Vintage and used yet still in good condition. The bottom two sections of the shaft are quite straight. The top section has a slight deviation from straight. A second top section is also included though it does not have a tip eye and also has a slight deviation. The handle is in good condition except for an area around the bottom edge (see photo). The fittings and eyes are in good condition. The whipping is generally good except one area of missing intermediate whipping. Although generally good there are a couple of areas where the varnish has deteriorated.
