Alexander, Prince of Orange was Prince of Orange-Nassau, Prince, Prince of the Netherlands, Heir apparent to the Dutch throne, and Third son of King William III of The Netherlands.

Work: Cesare Vecellio, Habiti antichi and moderni di tutto il world. Venice: 1590. Measurements: Paper: 16.8 x 10.3 cm; engraving: 15 x 9 cms. Production technique: Woodcut. Engraving made with a wooden board decorated with architectural border, title on top, text in Italian on the back. Cesare Vecellio (1521-1601), active in Venice, was an engraver and painter of the Renaissance, cousin of the painter Titian and author of what can be considered the first treatise on fashion.

This is an original print entitled "Impromptu" being a caricature of Mark Hambourg, published in Vanity Fair magazine on April 29, 1908. The artist is Spy, pseudonym for Leslie Ward. This is one of the Vanity Fair prints that were produced for a brief period of time by halftone offset lithography. The print is 15-1/2 by 10 inches. The paper is lightly worn; otherwise the print is in very good condition.
