For your consideration is an original pre-Civil War sword and scabbard from the 1830s with the rare mother of pearl handle. It has not been cleaned or polished, it is in original condition. It is missing a small piece of the pearl on one side.

Early French U.S. Colonial Military Socket Bayonet c. 1740 - 1771 TR1318
Early French Socket Bayonet that looks very similar to the Model 1771, but longer. Still retains the socket ring and screw. The right side of blade, right side shows a smooth oval/half-moon cut on it, not sure if this was a modification for a particular rifle.

Appears to be a Type 1 Large Coat Button. Here is a scarce button that was originally ordered for King Christophe's army in Haiti. Fearing a coup, the king committed suicide and the buttons were sold to Nathaniel Wyeth, a tradesman who transported them to the West Coast of the United States in the mid 1820's.

Ricasso appears unmarked. The leather grip is 40% complete. The double strands of twisted wire look complete. The etched blade is straight, lightly sharpened, a few nicks on the lower half, and has surface wear mainly on the lower third towards the tip.

This is a very nice all original authentic correct antique US sword or bayonet frog from the era of 1810 to 1850. This early style of buff leather was mostly discontinued by the time of the Civil War. What seem to be a split in the leather in the photos actually appears to be purposeful slit to accommodate a special hanger. Guaranteed to be correct and original.
