1866 CIVIL WAR Engraving / 5 UNION GENERALS / From MATTHEW BRADY Photos / RARE!!
This antique engraving is from 1866, just a year after the Civil War ended. It was engraved by John Rogers, the great British engraver, from photos by Matthew Brady, the great Civil War photographer. The engraving measures approximately 8x11 inches and comes with a 9x12 inch mat. It is in good condition for its age with some rippling, dents, a small paper loss, tape residue on the back, and some yellowing from age (see photos). Wounded soldiers lay on cots in second-floor galleries, among glass cases holding models of inventions that had been submitted with patent applications. The hospital was set up after the high casualties from the nearby battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Manassas.
