Scarce Early Civil War 1859 Bayonet Scabbard - 2 Rivet Buff Frog for 1816 Musket
Here is a superb example of an early Civil War pattern of 1859 bayonet scabbard featuring a two rivet frog composed of buff leather. The scabbard fits an 1816 bayonet perfectly, and 1835/42 or 1855s fit but are a bit long and narrow. Leather is fantastic with a rich untouched look to the buff frog, smooth bridle leather body with a high shine to it and tight stitching throughout. The body has a couple of bends, one most notable which is a weak area but doesn’t matter when a bayonet is inserted. Rather scarce pattern early or pre-war scabbard with great eye appeal.
