I bought this from an individual who said they had purchased from an from a person who only sells original items, and the item is original. I believe this is an older reproduction- you decide. Coat is in overall good condition with 7 eagle I buttons with Waterbury back marks. Two of the front buttons are general staff. both sets of cuff buttons are intact. inside the lining is white muslin. Nice coat for display.

RARE ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR ERA CSA VMI COAT UNIFORM JACKET NON DUG RELIC 44 BUTTONS

This is a rare original Civil War era VMI Coatee uniform jacket, a valuable non-dug relic from the era of the American Civil War. The jacket bears historical significance as a piece of militaria from the time when the South was fighting for its independence. Coat is fully intact with 44 VMI coat size buttons with D.Evans backmarks judging from the buttons this should date from 1865 to the reconstruction era, it does have some loose stitching and some light fraying and very light stains but overall very good condition for age, these are exceeding hard to find especially in this condition.

Original M1859 Civil War Artillary 12 button jacket that has been modified to have only 10. Jacket was modified from a 12 button to 10 to likely accommodate the size of the soldier. Size is small. Period Eagle buttons on the front, cuffs and collar. Coat is in excellent condition showing some ware on the collar, and two areas above each shoulder where stitching has come undone ( can easily be fixed). Inside lining is intact with white muslin sleeve lining, which is period correct. small separation of material in armpit, and sweat stains from use. No backmarks on the buttons. Great authentic period item from the Civil War period.

A very nice example of a Major of infantry Double-Breasted Frock coat. Dating to approximately 1862-1863. Coat is in excellent condition for its age. slight seperation of material on the front that can easily be fixed. Coat has 14 Eagle I buttons on the front and 3 on each sleeve. Waterbury, CT backmarks. inside sleeves are plain white muslin, with green lining covering the interior of the coat and tail areas. Nice rare Civil War area senior officer frock.

Introduced in 1851. Union Civil War soldiers went to the front decorated with brass scales on their shoulders as part of their uniforms. Made of brass, the scales are attached to a pan, held together with a thin iron sheet, a brass strip soldered to the pan, and attached to the bottom with a thumb turn, would fit under a brass clip sewed onto the jacket.

Farrell was listed as a Tailor from 1853 - 1894. A very high quality officers cape that is in super condition with no moth damage.

The interior flap has the maker markings from Watervliet Arsenal and dated 1864, these markings are very faint, see photos.
