This coat adding historical significance to its chevron design. This chevron, usually seen not on the coat, but in surplus. These chevrons are original to the coat. This is the branch that was utilized for its instructors and construction, labor for building its rough terrain of camps, defenses, roads, structures, railways & what was crucial for moving the military forward including the artillery. This is a great example of an original Indian war coat. They were a special branch and still trained to fight for the infantry. Matching staff buttons.

Italian Model 1871 Vetterli Vitali Torino Terni Sword Bayonet + Scabbard TR1039
Italian Model 1871 Vetterli Vitali Bayonet Sword measuring 25.5" OAL, with a blade length of 20.5". Bayonet shows some light wear, age patina and sharpening. Blade stamped, TORINO ? or Terni, it's faded. Has a serial no on the guard along with a cartouche on both sides, some numbers under the guard also. Nice looking grips and fine working press-stud mechanism. The Scabbard shows a faded leather with locket and chape made of brass. The bottom area of the scabbard shows black tape wrapping. The back of leather is stamped, "TERNI 1887". See photos.

The body was constructed of cork and covered with a tan wool felt covering. It retains its original shape perfectly. The Latin phrase "Qui Sustinet Transtulit" also appears which translates to "He Who Transplanted Still Sustains".

These fit the Portuguese Kropatschek Repeating rifles. See photos. A nice one.
