I am guessing this dates to possibly 1870s period, or even a bit later. Included are three antique empty brass 12 g shells (empty, no powder, inert, harmless) Leather is a bit on the stiff side. Roller buckle still has traces of black japanning on it.

These Second Lieutenant officer epaulettes were worn in the early part of the Indian Wars period (1872 - 1886). These epaulettes are authentic & unique piece of the Indian Wars period. Originally the colors would have matched better, but due to age they discolored.
