WW2 Letter. Battle of Britain 1940. RAF Biggin Hill. Airfield Defence Force
This is a very scarce Original WWII letter, written in July 1940 at R.A.F. Biggin Hill, the famous sector station of 11 Group, R.A.F. Fighter Command, at the beginning of the Battle of Britain. This letter was written by a soldier serving in the defensive force assigned to protect Biggin Hill from feared German attacks by paratroopers or other raiders.

These letters were written in beach defensive positions, at Eastbourne, Sussex, in the second half of July 1940. Coastal Sussex was expected to be a primary target of the expected German invasion. (It is worth noting that the soldiers in the positions there had little expectation of surviving the battle that they thought was coming.).
