Großer Exzellenter Kupferstich von 1782 auf festem Velin. Hudibras beats Sidrophel and his man Whacum (Plate 8 der Hudibras-Serie). Die Ränder minimal getönt, siehe Foto. Originalentwurf von William Hogarth. Stecher Joseph Haynes (17601829). Haynes war ein Schüler von John Mortimer und fertigte diese Radierungen nach Skizzen oder Gemälden Hogarths an, die sich damals im Besitz des Sammlers Samuel Ireland befanden. Eine weitere Szene aus Butlers Epos. Hudibras bricht in das Labor des Astrologen Sidrophel ein. Das Bild ist vollgestopft mit kuriosen Objekten (ein Krokodil an der Decke, ein Skelett, Globen), was Hogarths Meisterschaft in der Darstellung von grotesken Details zeigt. Es ist eine Satire auf die Scharlatanerie der Astrologie.

He traveled to Paris in the 1920s. joining in Montmarte and Montparnasse the Fauve painters such as Matisse, Dufy, Gleizes, among others with whom he became friends Evolving from a Fauve Expressionist style through Cubism and joining Abstraction at the end of his short life. He will even study mosaic in Ravenna He will demonstrate bravery and resistance in Corsica during the Second World War After marrying a woman from Toulouse, they settled in Saint Tropez, where this large painting was created. Their house will be an important artistic meeting place Julien LEVY's New York gallery permanently exhibited the works of this artist.
