Original Australian Commonwealth military cuff button dating from the reign of King Edward VII (1901–1910). Design: Crown over intertwined “ER VII” royal cypher Text: “AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH” Backmark: Stokes & Sons, Melbourne Size: ~¾ inch (cuff button) Material: Gilt brass, shank intact Era: Early Federation period, issued shortly after 1901 Condition: Good antique condition with light patina (see photos). These buttons were worn on early Commonwealth uniforms during Edward VII’s short reign, making them scarcer than later George V issues. A fine addition for collectors of Australian militaria, ANZAC, Edwardian era, or Commonwealth history.

The individual pictured on the pin is Captain Harry Butler (1889-1924), a decorated South Australian aviator and WWI pilot. He landed his Avro biplane at Henley Beach for the event. Funds raised from this and a subsequent 1921 carnival were used to build the Henley Town Hall.
